Friendship: A special connection
Have you ever thought about how many special friendships you enjoy? Because it’s almost Father’s Day, we’ll talk about a beautiful friendship between an older man, Dan Peterson and a little girl named Norah Wood. This incredible bond began two years ago when Dan was mourning the death of his wife.
Norah has a habit of gravitating to older people and hugging them. She seems to know who needs a hug as soon as she sees them. One day in the grocery store with her mom, Norah saw Dan. She rushed over to him and “Declared it was her birthday and she demanded he hug her and take a picture with her.”
“Norah was already a self-proclaimed lover of old people. She says she likes them so much because they walk slow like her, and have very soft skin. She knows they’re gonna die soon so she wants to “love ‘em all up” before then.”
What did Norah’s Mom Tara think? “Norah was already a self-proclaimed lover of old people. She says she likes them so much because they walk slow like her, and have very soft skin. She knows they’re gonna die soon so she wants to “love ‘em all up” before then.
Dan’s lip quivered when Norah first approached him. He couldn’t believe little five-year-old Norah wanted to hug him, especially when he’d barely slept since the death of his wife. After that, Norah’s Mom contacted Dan on Facebook and arranged for to meet with him every week. Now, the two are inseparable. Over the past two years, they’ve seen each other at least once a week. They share an amazing friendship and unbreakable bond.
Isn’t this the most heartwarming story to celebrate Father’s Day? One little girl showed how love can transform a lonely eighty-three year-old man’s life. It’s a wonderful example of the power of friendship and love. I hope more people read about Norah’s amazing gesture of kindness. It can change someone’s life, the way Norah changed Dan’s.
