Heroes: Preston Sharp
I’ve always thought heroes should be honored and respected. In fact, eleven year-old Preston Sharp feels the same way. One day, he went to visit his grandpa’s grave and he was stunned that many of the soldiers’ graves didn’t have flags decorating them. His mom said she’d never seen him “So angry and passionate about anything.” In fact, Preston remained upset over that for hours until finally his mom said, “‘Son, if you’re going to complain about something, you have to do something about it or let it go.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m going to do something about it, Mom.” Immediately, Preston said, “I’m going to do something about it, Mom.”
How did Preston solve the problem? He took odd jobs to make money to buy flags for the graves. Before long, people knew about Preston’s mission so they would join in to help him. Once Preston decorated every grave with a flag in his grandpa’s cemetery, he’d move on to another one. Now, it’s his mission to decorate every grave, each day of the year.
When Preston was asked why he works in the rain or the one-hundred degree heat, he answered, “They were out there in the rain doing their job, protecting us.”
Preston is an amazing young man, who decided to change something he felt was unfair. He wanted to honor each of the heroes who sacrificed their life for our country. Many people admire Preston’s patriotism and devotion to his cause. In fact, Preston attracted the attention of President Trump. How do I know? Because Preston was invited and introduced at President Trump’s State of the Union Address this year! Thank you for honoring our fallen heroes, Preston.
Update: Preston continues to help our brave veterans through his non-profit organization. He was interviewed on FoxNews.com this morning. To find out more, please click www.prestonsharp.net.
