New beginnings: amazing

What if your little brother had Down Syndrome and only knew “about twelve words?” Would you feel there was no way you could improve his vocabulary? Apparently, Lydia Gray had another idea of how she could help her little brother, Bo, who is twenty-five months old. What dis she do? She sang “You Are My Sunshine” to him. What happened next is the most amazing part. Lydia remembered every word her baby brother knows came from a song.  After just a few minutes of playing the the song, Bo learned “happy,” “gray,” “dear” and “away.”  Lydia made a video singing and playing her guitar to Bo. Be sure to check it out here: Share if you like. It’s downright adorable. You’ll see that every day is an opportunity for new beginnings.

I love uplifting stories like this. They prove many things are possible if you persevere. My dad always said “You never know what you can do until you try.  In my experience, the only way you fail, is not to try at all. After all, you could be cheating yourself of an incredible opportunity if you don’t give it a shot. Imagine what would have happened if talented baseball players like Derek Jeter,  and Carlos Beltran, didn’t see how much they liked baseball. In that case, they would have missed their chance to develop their passion and become all-star athletes. Wouldn’t that have been a shame?

I applaud Lydia for cherishing her little brother,  Bo, and helping him open new doors. She’s a wonderful big sister. When you watch the video, you’ll see how excited she and her baby brother are while they sing, “You Are My Sunshine.” May you both keep working together and creating amazing memories and new beginnings. Never give up on your dreams because you may accomplish much more than you imagine. You’re doing a great job so far.
