Big dreams: Frank goes to the White House

When you read kid’s books are you impressed by children who have big dreams and go after them? I know I am. I love to see children who have goals and work toward them. Little eleven-year-old Frank Giaccio is one of those. How do I know? Frank has a lawn mowing business so he wrote to President Trump saying he’d love to help mow the lawn at the White House someday. In fact, Frank wrote  it would be “his honor” to mow the White House lawn.  He even enclosed a copy of the menu of his services along with the letter. At the time he wrote the letter, Frank was only ten- years-old. Imagine how excited Frank felt when the president invited him to do exactly that.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted out a photo of Frank mowing the White House lawn. “Frank is hard at work in the Rose Garden and doing a great job!” she wrote.

Sarah Sanders also said:

At Friday’s press briefing, Sanders said it was an “honor” to host their guest landscaper.

“The president has always loved go-getters like Frank,” she said.

I happened to see an interview between Frank and Jesse Watters of Fox News. Frank mentioned he being called “F. X.” When Jesse Watters asked how he got his nickname and Frank replied, “I don’t know, my parents gave it to me.”asked How did he feel about mowing the lawn at the White House? Frank responded, “It was pretty much the best day of my life.” The young boy also mentioned he’d gotten more calls about his lawn mowing business after cutting the lawn at the White House.

My parents believed children should set goals and work hard to achieve them, the same as Frank did. My family owned a riding school, as well as a jewelry store, so you can imagine how busy they were. I set a goal to become a champion horseback rider, against big odds. But my parents said, “You can do anything you want if you are determined to do it.” Giving up was never an option.

Don’t you think it’s wonderful when children like Frank have big dreams and go after them? I love it. Besides, it’s the only way dreams can come true! Frank would not have gone to the White House if he hadn’t set goals and worked toward them.
