animal stories for kids: caring
When I write animal stories for kids, I love for the characters to care about others.Since most of my characters are animals, they work to help their friends to overcome challenges. Sometimes the characters raise money to benefit others. Have you heard about a special little boy named Brandon? He’s an adorable nine year-old who did something amazing. He read that an older racehorse named Karazan, was destined for the slaughterhouse. Brandon noticed that he and Karazan had something in common. “I saw her hair was the same, exact color as my hair. And I wanted to save her because I love horses ”he explained. He asked his Mom to spend his birthday money to buy the horse from the slaughterhouse. His Mom made a plan. She combined some of her money with donations from her friends. She was so impressed with Brandon’s caring nature she made a plan that astounded him.
“I thought I was in trouble,” says Brandon. But, the news was much better: Karazan had been saved from slaughter.
“When I told him the horse had found a home he started jumping up and down,” Mom said. “And then I said, ‘She’s yours!’ and he went nuts.
In late August, a couple of weeks before he turned 9, the best birthday present of his life rolled down the driveway.
“She’s his best friend. He’s always out grooming her and whenever he feels down, he walks out into the field with carrots in his hand to talk to his new buddy,” Allen says. “They’re a perfect match; She was meant to be with him,” Brandon’s Mom added.
